Son grabbed a kitchen knife and began stabbing his elderly parents as they were sitting on the couch only because they wanted to call psychiatric help and refused to let him stay at their home; arrested

Ohio – In a harrowing incident in Ohio, a family dispute turned violent when the 40-year-old man, identified as K. Mortimer, stabbed both of his parents,

leading to the death of his mother and serious injuries to his father. The altercation reportedly began after the parents refused to let Mortimer stay at their home.

The incident unfolded just before 4 p.m. on Friday at the family residence. According to the police, the situation escalated when the 75-year-old mother informed her son that he could not remain at their house overnight and asked her husband to call for psychiatric help.

This led to a violent outburst from Mortimer, who grabbed a kitchen knife, approached his elderly parents as they were sitting on the couch, and began stabbing them.

Authorities responded to the scene following a distress call about the stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found the elderly couple suffering from multiple stab wounds. According to authorities, the mother attempted to flee and escape the chaos that ensued, but unfortunately, Mortimer forcibly dragged her into the house and continued stabbing her, leading to her death. Mortimer’s father, who survived the attack, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The exact details of his condition have not been disclosed.

Mortimer had fled the scene by the time officers arrived, sparking an immediate search. Police later located him, where he was apprehended without further incident. During his arrest, he reportedly confessed to the stabbing of his parents. Mortimer now faces severe legal consequences, including charges of murder, attempted murder, and felonious assault. He is currently held in jail on a $2 million bond and is scheduled for a court hearing on August 20.

The legal system is now tasked with unraveling the details of the case and providing justice for the victims. This incident has also highlighted the importance of mental health support and intervention, raising questions about how similar tragedies might be prevented in the future. As the court date approaches, the community, along with the surviving family members, seeks closure and justice for the crimes committed. The case continues to develop as more details will likely emerge during the court proceedings.
