How a School Bus Became Their Dream Home: The Couple’s Remarkable Transformation

Mandy and her husband Ritomo have spent nearly three years living in a converted vehicle and now plan to upgrade to a new one.

They took on this unique housing project themselves and are thrilled with the results.

Mandy and Ritomo, both 32 and from Canada, transformed an old school bus they bought for $6,000 into a cozy home.

This story was shared by The Mirror.

With the rising cost of living and the difficult housing market, more people are looking at alternative housing solutions like tiny homes and converted vehicles.

The couple spent about two years renovating the bus, which cost them around $25,000 in total. They invested $10,000 just in solar panels. Mandy said they had no prior building experience and limited funds, so they relied on YouTube tutorials, advice from knowledgeable friends, and a handy friend who helped with finishing touches. Her cousin, an electrician, handled the electrical work to avoid fire risks. They made the home as beautiful as possible using affordable materials.

Inside their bus, they have a grand piano, a bar dining area, a spacious kitchen, a living room with a TV, a toilet, and a bedroom with a king-size mattress. Since Canadian winters are too cold for an external water tank, they use a propane heater and shower outside in the woods. One commenter admired their home, calling it one of the coziest they had seen and wishing them happy travels.

In another related story, a man bought a three-story house in Sicily for just 85 pence and is turning it into a “dollhouse.” He found this property through the Euro Houses project, which sells abandoned buildings in Italy for very low prices.
