Co-host of ‘The View’ triggers Matthew McConaughey, his reply is very unexpected

When The View’s Joy Behar pressed Matthew McConaughey about Texas’ anti-gun policy,

the outspoken advocate for “responsible gun ownership” was abruptly cut off.

Shortly after wiping the co-host’s leg, she asked the 54-year-old s*x icon about his views on firearms,

prompting him to make a very direct statement.

To find out what happened on The View, keep reading!

Fifty-four-year-old actor Matthew McConaughey is a native of Uvalde, Texas, and was personally affected by the May 2022 shooting at an elementary school in his hometown.

After the Robbo Elementary School shooting, in which an 18-year-old former student killed 19 students and two teachers, McConaughey attended a White House briefing and asked Americans to “renegotiate our demands from our needs.”

Background checks and responsible ownership are essential. The age requirement to purchase an AR-15 rifle must be raised to 21.

A waiting period is required for such firearms.

Red flag laws are necessary, as are penalties for those who violate them; they are tactical, logical, and realistic rules,” he stated.

“Responsible gun owners are sick and tired of the Second Amendment being abused and hijacked by some deranged individuals,” the Oscar-winning actor continues.

Since then, McConaughey and Camila Alves have founded the  Greenlights Grant Initiative, which states on its website that it “creates safer school environments and ensures the well-being of our children.”

Not everything is “good, good, good”. McConaughey appeared on The View in the fall of 2023 to promote his children’s book, “Just Because.”

The Texas native answered questions from the panelists and discussed the book and his three children while massaging co-host Joy Behar’s feet.

Then, in a dramatic turn of events, Sunny Hostin praised McConaughey for being “so outspoken against violence, and especially gun violence.”

“You considered running for governor of Texas in 2021 but ultimately decided to put your family first. Do you believe the public office is in your future? Hostin asked the man who had been considering a bid for governor of his home state for two years. ” previous.

The Girlfriends’ Ghosts former star replied: “Yes if I think that’s where I think I can be most useful. I want to be the father the most right now.”

Later, Behar returned to the topic and appeared to touch on  the Dallas Buyers Club star. In the now-viral video, the exchange got heated.

Demanding more information on politics and firearms, Behar asked, “Do you think you could be elected anti-gun in Texas?”

McConaughey stated, “One thing about me and politics, to give you a straight statement, is that I’m playing a game,” after asking the same question again before he answered. He then shook his finger at her, maintaining his perfect gentlemanly demeanor, and said, “I’m not interested in playing.”

“Okay, no,” Behar said.

Hostin tried to set things straight after the break by saying, “I was going to say that I did a lot of research in terms of your defense and I don’t know that you’re anti-gun. you think you’re up for responsibility and laws.”

An exchange between Joy Behar and Matthew McConaughey on The View revealed the actor’s strong stance on responsible gun ownership while highlighting the sensitive nature of public discussion of such issues. McConaughey, a passionate supporter of pragmatic gun laws, has made it clear that he values direct and constructive dialogue over political gamesmanship. His refusal to further address the issue of gun control in a political context underscored his commitment to addressing gun violence through meaningful and responsible measures rather than partisanship.

The conversation shifted slightly when Sunny Hostin attempted to clarify McConaughey’s position, emphasizing his advocacy of gun responsibility rather than an outright anti-gun stance. The aim of the edit was to align with McConaughey’s perspective, which supports common-sense legislation rather than a blanket rejection of firearms. When the discussion ended, it was clear that McConaughey remained focused on making a positive contribution to societal issues and favored constructive change over political maneuvering.
