His hand shot out to grab the back of her dress as he arrived at her side of the curb. With a sickening crunch, the scooter continued to gain speed and crashed beneath the wheels of a passing automobile, but Johnny’s arms kept the girl safe. She gazed up at him, trembling but undamaged, her eyes wide with relief and horror.

A Stately Home
The girl said her name was Lily and that her residence was close by. Walking a few blocks together, they came upon a stately estate encircled by a verdant park and a lavish playground. Johnny was astounded by the location’s extravagant magnitude. As they got closer, the elaborate gates opened, and a butler emerged, looking curious and concerned at the same time.

“Miss Lily! How have you been? The butler let out a cry and led the way inside.

Johnny trailed behind, feeling uncomfortable in the opulent setting. The mansion’s inside was even more magnificent. The large hall had rich carpets underfoot, chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and exquisite artwork throughout. Johnny couldn’t help but feel more uneasy as they made their way through the mansion.
