Jason Momoa announced his new girlfriend publicly on Instagram on Monday, and since then, the romance has been the talk of the internet.
Although this may come as a surprise to some, he has been teasing followers about their long-simmering romance for quite some time.
When he was still married to Lisa Bonet, the 44-year-old actor first got to know the 32-year-old actress on the set of the 2021 Netflix film Sweet Girl. But there’s a catch!
Even though Momoa and his wife had been separated for almost five years, they were still legally married.
There was no overlap with his marriage when he and Arjona heated things up because Bonet and Momoa announced it quits on October 7, 2020.
On January 8 of this year, Bonet filed for divorce; a day later, their legal matters were handled amicably.
Momoa went all out with a carousel of pictures from their most recent trip to Japan, now that he was free to spread his love to everyone.
He lovingly referred to Arjona as “mi amor” in the text, but if anyone is confused, just have a peek at their adorable pictures of one other.
He wrote, “Japan, you are a dream come true you blew my mind. We’re so thankful for everyone who opened their homes, making memories with new friends and old friends, sharing another amazing adventure with mi amor. ON THE ROAM motorcycles and mayhem. All my aloha j.”
In 2019, Arjona wed attorney Edgardo Canales; however, little is known regarding their dissolution or if a divorce was requested.
Though it appears that she has been a part of the Momoa family for a short while, Arjona was chosen by his stepdaughter Zoë Kravitz to direct Blink Twice, which stars Channing Tatum and opens in theatres on August 23.
After 13 years of dating, Bonet and Momoa made the decision to tie the knot in October 2017.
The former couple is quietly co-parenting their two children, a 15-year-old son named Nakoa-Wolf and a 16-year-old daughter named Lola.
They didn’t use Instagram to declare their split until January 2022: “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times … A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception … feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” the joint statement read. “And so~ We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
