It was there that Peacock purchased pills worth $100, which ultimately proved fatal. Authorities detailed the events in a Facebook release, noting the heartbreaking moment Peacock’s mother found her daughter unresponsive in bed. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Peacock could not be revived. A subsequent toxicology report confirmed the presence of fentanyl in her system, a potent synthetic opioid that significantly contributed to her overdose and death.
James was arrested on July 25, over a month after the incident, and charged with aggravated manslaughter causing a fentanyl overdose. This charge comes under “Austin’s Law,” named after Austin Walters, another victim of a fentanyl-laced pill.
