It’s natural to look back on life as you get older, and Susan Boyle can certainly reflect on an incredible journey.

In 2008, Susan was an unemployed charity worker living alone with her cat, Pebbles. She wanted to see if she could make it in show business. After singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from *Les Misérables* in front of Simon Cowell and the *Britain’s Got Talent* judges, the 47-year-old became an overnight star.

Her underdog audition gained her instant fame worldwide. Even today, her story continues to inspire millions.

“I used to be a spectator, looking outward at the world. But now I’m part of it, and though it’s frightening, I’m going to embrace it,” Susan said after her big breakthrough.

In her first year as a superstar, Susan made $6.8 million.

Her success kept growing. After releasing her second album, she became one of the few artists to top the charts in both the UK and the US twice in the same year.

This shy, 47-year-old from Scotland quickly became an international superstar and millionaire.

Despite her global fame and wealth, Susan Boyle has remained humble, honest, and kind.

Unlike many other celebrities, she hasn’t flaunted her money. In fact, she still lives in her childhood home in Blackburn, Scotland, which she bought in 2010.

“It’s best to stay grounded and close to your roots. It keeps you humble and stops you from saying things you maybe shouldn’t,” Susan Boyle told *OK! Magazine.*

Susan Boyle was born on April 1, 1961. Her parents, Patrick Boyle, a miner, WWII veteran, and singer, and Bridget, a shorthand typist, were both immigrants from County Donegal, Ireland. Susan was the youngest of four brothers and six sisters.

The family lived in a council house in West Lothian, Scotland. To this day, Susan still lives in that same house.

Susan Boyle could have done anything or gone anywhere after her success, even bought a mansion in Beverly Hills. But instead, she chose to return to her childhood home, a four-bedroom ex-council house in Blackburn, Scotland. She bought it and turned it into the home of her dreams.

In a tour of her newly renovated house, which she has lived in for 60 years, she proudly shows off her new piano room, the first thing you see when you enter.

Susan joked about her piano room, saying she had only just started taking lessons. “That’s a giggle for a start because I can’t even do scales,” she laughed.

The kitchen, which used to be small and simple with a table near the oven, has been fully renovated, giving her more space and modern updates. It even has a framed photo of Susan meeting Pope Francis.

Her living room is cozy and bright, filled with family pictures. As the youngest of 7 siblings, Susan’s house originally held 9 people, so it must feel much roomier now.

Throughout the home, you can see her career celebrated with framed awards and cute animal ornaments, reflecting her kind and down-to-earth personality.

Upstairs, she shows us the room she once shared with her two sisters, which became hers after they moved out. She remembers having a record player in the corner and being a huge fan of The Osmonds.

Susan’s father passed away in the 1990s, and by then, her siblings had all moved out. Susan stayed to care for her elderly mother until she passed in 2007. The house holds many cherished memories for her.

“Some people are surprised that I still choose to stay in my family home. Why shouldn’t I? I feel Mum is still here, and there are so many good memories. I’ve spent most of my life in this house, and I won’t move now because it’s part of my new history,” Susan said.

Susan has always been honest about wanting to meet the love of her life and find a long-term partner. That person would, of course, move into her house because Susan has no plans to leave.

While she patiently waits to meet “Mr. Right,” there’s something else on her mind. Susan has always dreamed of being a mother and having children of her own.

“I’ve never had any children of my own, and that’s my biggest regret, but I love kids. They’re so much fun to be with,” she told *The Sun*.

At 60 years old, time isn’t exactly on her side. However, Susan has shared her thoughts on possibly adopting or becoming a foster parent for children who need a safe and loving home.

“I’ve got a lovely house, so why not share it?” she said.

Susan’s home is a reminder that, despite her sudden fame, she remains an everyday person who prefers a quiet life in the only home she’s ever known.

It’s truly sad that her parents couldn’t witness her incredible rise to stardom.
