Authorities detailed the events in a Facebook release, noting the heartbreaking moment Peacock’s mother found her daughter unresponsive in bed. A subsequent toxicology report confirmed the presence of fentanyl in her system, a potent synthetic opioid that significantly contributed to her overdose and death.

James was arrested on July 25, over a month after the incident, and charged with aggravated manslaughter causing a fentanyl overdose.
